Fishing has been red hot for Snook this week. Snook, big an small are roaming the flats in large numbers & big schools near our st lucie inlet. Lots of Seatrout are being caught up by our st lucie power plant on full day charters. Redfish are also being caught near the power plant on these trout charters. Triple Tail & grouper are also being taken on the flats to the north. Tarpon are starting to make a showing in the river as well/ Live mullet has been deadly effective early moring and late evening.
Action was hot today for Cobia & bonita. Some sails are also being caught nearshore this week. Cobia are migrating through the area so the bite has been steady catching 3-10 fish a trip over the past few days. Big Jack Crevalles, & AJs are being taken on the deeper nearshore wrecks. Tarpon are showing god numbers along the beach. Goliath groupers are prevelant around bait balls on nearshore wrecks as well. Permit have been scarce lately but should show up again any day now along the beaches & wrecks. Permit in Stuart can go as big as 50lbs! Just bring your heavy duty spinners for these hard fighting fish. Lots of shark sightings along the beach to the north of Jensen Beach.
Deeper water has been very productive for sailfsh over the past week. 2-5 fish a trip are being caught on half days so the bite has been fast & steady! Few Mahi are being taken but they are around scattered grass lines in about 140′. Some wahoo have been caught over the last week but its been sparadic at best. AJs, Grouper, & red Snapper are holding good on the deeper reefs 140-180′. Lots of bonita are showing up in the deeper water too, so expect to get your upper body exercise done on these offshore charters. Last week we caught 13 bonita to 20lbs. Hard fighters that never seem to give up. Blackfin tuna are being caught early 12miles out. theyve been small but plentiful early moring & late evening.
