Fishing in Stuart, FL on fishing charters during the month of August is always fun exciting & hot!
Fishing this week has been steady for Snook, Tarpon, Sharks, Snapper, Jacks, Ladyfish, Flounder, & more. Live baits are producing the best while artificials such as topwaters at first light, Doa lures mid day, & berkley gulps on the bottom will also entice bites throughout the day. Snook are spawning near our St. Lucie inlet, so please use caution when handling these fish. A quick photo isn’t always necessary but if it is please handle these larger breeding fish with care, so that next year we can catch bigger larger Snook.
Action nearshore has been steady this week. Mutton Snapper, Snook, Tarpon, Jacks, Kingfish, Bonita, Cobia, & misc. other small snappers & reef fish are being caught on half day charters. Bottom fishing and drifting live baits on the surface is a deadly combination on our nearshore charters. Live lining sardines always produces a good quality bite. Shrimp & squid on the bottom will catch you plenty for the dinner table as well! Soon the bonita will push closer to shore and it will be burdensome to have to catch so many bonita in a half days charter, haha! They follow the red minnows close to shore and they’re almost always willing to feed on any bait you put in their presence!
Fishing Offshore has been stellar this week for Sailfish, we are averaging 1-5 fish almost every trip for the past few weeks. Also a few Mahi, Kingfish, Wahoo, Cobia, Snapper, Almaco & lots of Amberjacks up to 50 lbs. Trolling has been best for Sailfish, mahi, & kingfish. Bottom fishing deeper water has been ideal for larger Ajs, Red Snapper, & Grouper. Sight fishing Cobia on offshore rays has also been a common occurrence over the past few weeks.
