Fishing Nearshore this week has been Stellar! Inshore has been fair & offshore has been good for mahi, and bigger bottom fish like Amberjacks.
Fishing inshore this week has been good for Pompano, Redfish, Trout, Sheepshead, Snook, Jack Crevelle, and a occasional Flounder. Fishing Shrimp on the bottom has been best for bottom feeders like Redfish. Live baitfish are catching Snook, Trout, Jack Crevelles, & larger Snapper. There are also still some bluefish around to be caught as well. Pompano are being caught on incoming tides at Sailfish Flats on Jigs & cut clams. Try to fish incoming tide this week if possible due to our influx of fresh water discharges from Lake Okeechobee.
Fishing just along the beaches in our beautiful atlantic ocean this week has been very productive. WE are catching Cobia, Kingfish, Snapper, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, Spots, Grunts, Toros, Sharks (Large & Small), Sea Bass, & lots of Bluefish. Fishing with jigs on the surface is catching Kings, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish for us as of the past few days. Its been steady action with a short ride to the fishing grounds. Although the fish are smaller these trips tend to be a blast for novice anglers who just want to catch fish for the day.
Fishing offshore this week has been good. MAhi are showing up in better numbers and are larger on average this time of year. 16- 50lb fish aren’t uncommon during March. We are also still catching a few sails, Bonita, Black fin tuna, Cobia, Kingfish, & a stray Wahoo. Bottom fishing has been good for Triggerfish, Lane Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Amberjacks, Toro, & occasional Cubera Snappers. Trolling is your best bet for large mahi, but kite fishing live baits when available is also a great idea for visual attacks on the surface. Going down to the bottom with large live baits will catch tackle busting Amberjacks this time of year as well!
Fishing in Stuart during the month of March is always a blast.
