Fishing this month has been very consistent!
Inshore, Nearshore, & Offshore have all been very productive this week~
Snook Season has just opened so we are targeting snook with great success this week. averaging 5 fish a trip with as many as 30-40 in one trip if we have enough supply of baitfish for the clientele. Also expect plenty of Jack Crevelles, Snapper, Sheepshead, Redfish, & the occasional Tarpon. Bottom fishing the river in Feb is an excellent way to increase you catch ratio. Also drifting the Flats for Pompano, Seatrout, Ladyfish, and Jacks is also a lot of fun to do with artificial on windy days.
Fishing Nearshore this month has been absolutely stellar for Sheepshead. Perhaps the best sheep head run I’ve seen in years! Also expect lots of Jacks, Snappers, Reef fish, Cobia, Permit, Pompano, Kingfish, etc. Fishing local Reefs & wrecks is you best bet close to shore during the month of Feb. We have had a few tarpon sightings nearshore as well, keep a topwater plug or live mullet handy & cast quickly! All & all nearshore is a great choice during feb for a variety of species with lots of action.
Offshore action has been steady. We are trolling this week & targeting many Kingfish, Mahi, Cobia, & Sailfish. Trolling live or dead baits is an effective way to catch large pelagics during the month of Feb. Bottom fishing deeper water offshore is also a great idea to catch larger Snappers, Amberjacks, Cobia, Grouper, Sharks, & more. Drifting and kite fishing will also be a great way to catch multiple sails on days in-between cold fronts. either way, if your looking to catch larger fish then offshore fishing is your best bet during the month of Feb.
