Fishing inshore this week has been excellent for sheepshead, black drum, snook, pompano, jack crevelle, & snapper. Shrimp on the bottom will produce lots of bites. Pilchards around structure will catch plenty of snook & jacks. Expect a longer soak time with the pilchards due to cold water temps This typically makes the snook somewhat lethargic this time of year. Pompano bite has been decent on sandy flats & near the inlet. Goofy jigs or pompano rigs with fish bites will yield good action.
Snapper fishing has been excellent this week on the 6 & 8 mile reef. Big snappers have been dominating the reef. Reel them in quickly as lots of sharks will be amongst the snappers looking for an easy meal. Some Cobia are also around the sharks. Be sure to have a jig tied on a large spinner should the opportunity present itself. Trolling has been great for mahi & some sailfish mixed in. Depths 130-170’ have been best over the past few days. Kingfish are active with the bonitas inside of 90’.
