Inshore-  March is prime time to target snook with live bait with great success. Typically we want to use 4000-6000 size reels fishing around structure free lining live bait fish for lots of action. Expect Snook, trout, redfish, jacks, ladyfish, & snapper. Usually we use a 3-4 ft long 40 lb tsunami fluorocarbon leader with a 5/0 circle hook when targeting snook. Baitfish of choice is pilchards/ mullet this month. Few pompano are lingering around in the river and along the surf at the local beaches. Goofy jigs and or pompano rigs with shrimp, clams, fleas, & or fish bites will get the job done.
Offshore- Sailfishing has been excellent this week. Fishing near or around 120′ depth straight out of our st. lucie inlet has been producing good action both trolling and or live bait drift fishing, when the seas allow us to get outside of the inlet. Mixed in are plenty of mahi, kingfish, and some jumbo blackfin tunas. Nearshore action has been fair for cobia but I expect it to get good any day now. Live baits on heavy action spinners will catch fish upwards of 60lbs this month. Plenty of snapper action on the 6 & 8 mile reef this week. Chicken rigs & long leader rigs with live baits will get a variety of snapper for the fish box.  Pitch a wire leader rig out with a live bait fish while bottom fishing for additional kingfish action.
