Inshore- Mullet run has thinned out slightly this week. Fishing still remains strong. Live lining mullet around structure will produce plenty of snook, jacks, ladyfish, trout, redfish, & flounder. Fish open water with larger mullet for large tarpon. heavy leader & large circle hooks on heavy tackle is suggested. Flounder fishing has been excellent this week. fish a fish finder rig on the bottom with finger mullet or shrimp for a few doormats for the dinner table. Sea Trout fishing has been steady up by the st lucie power plant fishing 2-5′ of water drifting grass flats.
Offshore- Trolling this week has been steady for Black fin tuna, mahi, & a few sails. Plenty of bonita mixed in so rig a few dozen ballyhoo if your planing to troll dead bait. 90-130′ has been pretty good area with condition and bait. Everyday is different so be prepared to fish shallower or deeper based on where the best looking water condition is. Bottom fishing is hot on the 6 & 8 mile reef for snapper. Lanes, Muttons, & mangrove snappers are plentiful. Chicken rigs or long leader rigs will produce the desired species. 6-10 oz lead based on current for the day. Throw a live or dead sardine out, free lined on wire for added kingfish when on anchor or drifting while bottom fishing.
