Inshore- Snook season is off to a strong start this month. Mullet run has made finding bait very easy. Fishing live mullet around bridges, docks, & mangroves will get plenty of action from snook, jacks, bluefish, redfish, & sea trout. Tarpon fishing is good around deeper channel edges fishing larger live or dead mullet. Heavy tackle recommended. Night fishing around the bridges has been excellent this week for snook & tarpon.
Offshore-This week should be excellent when the weather lays down enough for us to get offshore. Mahi fishing will be excellent. Find a good weed line or hard edge & set out a troll or drift live baits for good pelagic action. If your looking to bottom fish, mutton snapper fishing should be excellent following storms. 6 & 8 mile reef along with Loran tower ledge are great areas to catch snapper & grouper this time of year. Long leaders & large live baits will weed out smaller unwanted bottom dwellers. Kingfish are around in 70- 90’ depths. Trolling or drifting live baits or ballyhoo on planers will get plenty of strikes.
